Are there any side effects to expect after the facial?
You may look flushed or slightly red, or you experience purging a few days following the treatment. This is quite common and can even occur after waxing or lasering.
Will a facial cause my skin to purge or break out?
You may get some purging or breakouts after a facial, and you may see more bumps on skin surface than usual. Don’t worry, it is just good news! The facial treatment has been opening up the lymph nodes and getting the blood flowing in the face. While you may only have a few breakouts before you walk in, a facial can help to clear up any congestion that is lurking beneath the surface. This is common, but it does not always occur.
Will I experience redness or sensitivity?
As we are promoting the blood to move in the skin, you tend to just look flushed or glowing. If you are currently using active ingredients at home in your skincare routine, you may experience some sensitivity from that.
Do I need to stay out of the sun?
We always recommend staying out of the sun as much as possible after a facial. Even we do apply an SPF to you after your treatment, your skin will still be very sensitive as we have exfoliated the skin. The best option is trying to avoid the sun for at least 24 hours or if you are going to be out to wear a hat that covers your face.
What if I have never had a facial before?
We welcome you to come in for a consultation with us so we can get a good look at your skin and what some of your concerns might be with your skin. This will also give us the chance to help you avoid picking something that you may not need for your skin.
